Philadelphia · Boston
Founded 2021 at the University of Pennsylvania

The value of membership

More than a room.

From the moment you arrive, the room is yours. A host who knows your name has the room ready, the monitors set, and the evening’s bookings in hand. Whether you have come to rehearse, to record, or simply to spend an hour behind the decks in good company, Booth is your home in the city for the hours you keep.

Booth traces its beginnings to the University of Pennsylvania, where it was founded as a student DJ community in 2021. That community grew to more than one thousand members — the largest student DJ community of its kind — and gave rise to a school that is today the most widespread in-person DJ school in the country, teaching on professional, club-standard equipment in cities across the United States. In 2026, Booth opened its first permanent homes, in Philadelphia and Boston.

Membership is designed as a whole. The room, the calendar, the people, and the services behind them belong to one another; each exists so that the others mean more. Together they amount to something simple and, we think, rare: everything required to live a full DJ life — practice and preparation, performance and company — arranged quietly around you.

Admission is by application. We are far less interested in your following or your bookings than in your ear, your taste, and what you bring into the room. Membership at Booth is not bought; it is joined.

The requirement

You should know how to play. Beat-matching by ear is required.

Beyond that, we care about taste, curiosity, and what you bring to the room.

Admission

A short application, reviewed personally by the membership team. There is no audition panel and no ceremony — simply a conversation about your playing and what you hope to find here.

Booth Studio Boston — Members only

Each Booth location keeps deliberately to one idea: a single room, a single professional setup, and someone who knows the members. The equipment is the equipment of the clubs you would hope to play — CDJ-3000 players and a DJM-A9 mixer, with professional monitoring, in a room tuned to be listened to. Sets are recorded as easily as they are played.

Members receive five hours of private room time each month and are welcome to bring up to two guests. The studio is staffed throughout operating hours by a member host — there to greet you, book you in, make an introduction, or leave you entirely to your work, as the evening requires.

Member programming

The calendar is where Booth leaves the room. Programming runs the year round — in our own rooms, and in the clubs, restaurants, studios, and galleries where we like spending time. Booth exists in the city, not apart from it, and the calendar is how the city and the membership meet.

Some evenings are small: a member night around one booth, or an artist session. Others are not — parties, performances, venue takeovers, and collaborations across the city. Guest programming brings the artists, selectors, and operators we admire into the rooms to play, to talk, and to stay a while.

Members are invited, not sold to. The calendar belongs to the membership, and your host will see that you know what is coming, what might suit you, and — when you are ready — where you might play.

The people, and what they can do for you

A room gathers people. Around Booth’s rooms you will find DJs and producers, artists, promoters and operators, photographers, designers, venue teams, and people who simply care deeply about music. We make no ceremony of networking. Introductions happen at the decks, at events, and in passing — the way they should — and your host will see that they happen naturally.

When you wish to take things further, the membership extends. The services opposite are real, working services — offered to members at additional cost, and delivered by the best people we know: the photographers who shoot our rooms, the designers behind our own name, instructors from the most widespread in-person DJ school in the country. Each is arranged through your host.

These things exist in support of the thing itself — the love of playing, and of the world that gathers around it. None of them can be bought in place of an ear; membership only ever begins with the music.
