What's included
Two focused hours on real club gear, coached around what you actually need — and a clear starting point for the classes that follow.
The path
01
Two hours on professional club gear with an instructor — Rekordbox and digital setup, EQ, phrasing, and music structure, coached around what you already know instead of a fixed lesson plan.
02
By the end of the class your instructor sets exactly where you pick up Pro DJ Fundamentals — Booth's core DJ course — so you're not repeating what you've got or skipping what you don't.
03
You join Pro DJ Fundamentals partway through, for the parts that take the most reps: beat matching by ear, musical keys, loops, and effects.
04
Finish with the same recorded performance every Pro DJ Fundamentals student does — a set you keep. From there: Pro DJ Advanced, private coaching, or membership.
Curriculum
Club Start covers the same ground as the back half of Pro DJ Fundamentals — it just folds the first three classes (background, equipment, software) into one catch-up session built for people who already play a bit.
01

Your catch-up class
Get up to speed on professional Pioneer DJ® club gear, Rekordbox and digital tools, EQ, and reading a song's structure — the ground Pro DJ Fundamentals covers across its first three classes, focused on the gaps a self-taught DJ actually has.
02

Pro DJ Fundamentals
Learn how to count beats, about the basic structure of songs in various genres, and about the fundamentals of beatmatching by ear. Learn phrasing, cueing, and nudging.
03

Pro DJ Fundamentals
Discover the components of a song, how EQ can be used to create fullness in the mix and master smooth transitions. Master harmonic mixing, the Camelot wheel, and musical moods.
04

Pro DJ Fundamentals
Master looping with slip mode, in transitions, and with EQ. Discover Beat & Color FX, and learn to use them to elevate your first performance. Record a promo-ready set to share.

FAQ
Still unsure which door fits? Reach out and we'll help you find it.
No — Pro DJ Fundamentals is Booth's core DJ course, and Club Start is a second way into it. First Transition begins at class one; Club Start begins with a coaching class built around where you already are, then joins the course for its later classes. Everyone finishes with the same recorded set.
It's not a test — it's coaching. Your instructor works with you directly on professional Pioneer DJ® gear, Rekordbox and digital setup, EQ, and music structure, closing whatever gaps are actually there. Beat matching by ear and your recorded set come in the classes that follow. By the end of this one, you'll know where you stand and where you pick up the rest of the course.
First Transition is built for people who've never touched club gear. Club Start is for people who already mix a little — on a controller at home, or otherwise — and want to skip ahead instead of repeating the basics.
That's what First Transition is for — no shame in it, it just means a different starting point. Reach out and we'll help you find the right door.
If you're already confident beatmatching fully by ear, Pro DJ Advanced or Private Coaching will move faster for you than Club Start.
That's exactly what the coaching is for. Your instructor places you honestly based on the work you did in the room — into the later classes, or into an earlier step if that's the better fit — no penalty either way.
No. Your instructor will check in with you after your Club Start class about continuing into the rest of Pro DJ Fundamentals — nothing happens without that conversation.
All sessions are in-person at our studio location in Center City, Philly. Hands-on feedback on real club gear is the point.
