Curriculum
Each session builds on the last — from equipment basics to your first recorded performance on Pioneer DJ® club gear.
01

Learn about vinyl, CDJs, and the history of modern mixing equipment. Master song selection by key, genre, and BPM. Become an artist of set design and controlling musical atmosphere and energy. You'll also meet the wider Booth community — who's in the room, what events are coming, and what membership looks like when you're ready.
02

Discover the functions of the modern Pioneer DJ® club mixer and deck. Learn about input devices, and how sound is created.
03

Choose the right software for your interests. Understand the difference between Serato and Rekordbox, compared to other tools on the market.
04

Learn how to count beats, about the basic structure of songs in various genres, and about the fundamentals of beatmatching by ear. Learn phrasing, cueing, and nudging.
05

Discover the components of a song, how EQ can be used to create fullness in the mix and master smooth transitions. Master harmonic mixing, the Camelot wheel, and musical moods.
06

Master looping with slip mode, in transitions, and with EQ. Discover Beat & Color FX, and learn to use them to elevate your first performance. Record a promo-ready set to share — then graduate into the community: the people who hear it, the room time ahead, and your invitation to join as a founding member.

FAQ
Still unsure? Reach out — we'll recommend the best starting point based on your experience and goals.
Yes. Most of our students start with zero experience. We teach from the ground up, starting with the equipment, music structure, and your first transitions. You do not need any prior DJ experience, music theory background, or equipment to begin.
Yes. Our Pro DJ Advanced course or Private Coaching are perfect for more experienced DJs who want to take their skills to the next level or work on specific goals.
All sessions are in-person at our studio location in Center City, Philly. We believe hands-on training with direct feedback is the most effective way to learn DJing.
The course follows a clear step-by-step structure, so you're never guessing what to practice next. Each session builds on the last, and you'll get hands-on repetition with direct feedback as you go. There is also optional bonus material if you want extra things to practice between classes.
Nothing is needed– except for a positive attitude, of course! If you'd like to DJ with your own music, you can bring your own laptop to the third and fourth sessions. If you don't feel comfortable sharing headphones, feel free to bring a pair!
No. You can choose to attend any session that works for you. If you need to miss a session, just let us know and we'll work with you to reschedule so that you get all the classes in the course.
No. All equipment is provided at the course. You'll train on professional Pioneer DJ® equipment. We'll show you how to practice at home using just your laptop. Once you get started, we can recommend home practice options if you want to go further.
We teach on club-standard Pioneer DJ® equipment, so we use Rekordbox. We'll also show you how Serato is very similar and the pros and cons of each.
If you have some experience, you'll still learn a ton from the Pro DJ Fundamentals course and get a lot out of it. If you want to skip the fundamentals and go straight to the advanced techniques, you can do that too. Just reach out and we'll be happy to help you figure out the best starting point!
No. There are no hidden fees or surprises. Our prices are transparent and upfront.
You can cancel or reschedule a session up to 48 hours in advance for a full refund or credit. No-shows will result in a refund of 50% of the non-discounted session price.
